Image
WHAT IS AN INTERLOCK? An interlock is a small handheld device that measures the amount of alcohol in the user’s breath. If the device registers over the pre-set limit, the vehicle will not start. If the driver’s breath test is below the pre-set limit, the vehicle will start. The interlock device needs to be serviced and calibrated at an authorized service center regularly. The Invention of The Interlock Device The Borg-Warner corporation created a working prototype that had a BAC sample tester which was able to interrupt a vehicle engines starting circuit. The device was inspired by the Immobilizer, an alarm system created in 1919 by George Evans and Edward Birkenbue What is an interlock program? Interlock programs vary by state but in general, they all require some combination of the following: obtain a special license, install the device, test-taking, device calibration, results reported to monitoring agencies, compliance, and removal upon completion. WHAT IS WINDOW TINTING?

Image
WHAT IS WINDOW TINTING Some vehicle manufacturers have windows that come with a factory tint on the vehicle's windows, though that is generally only done on the rear windows. This “factory tint” is done by dying the glass. There is sometimes a degree to which the top of the front window is tinted to help reflect the sun's glare. This is especially apparent on older vehicles with stock windshields, as the graduated green strip is clearly visible. As an aftermarket upgrade, window tinting is generally done by applying a film to the interior of the vehicle’s windows. While DIY kits are available, the results can be messy, with air bubbles or crooked placement. Window tinting on a vehicle reduces the Visible Light Transference (VLT), and window tinting is graded on the percentage of light that transfers. The lower the percentage of light transmittance, the darker the tint. WHY PEOPLE TINT VEHICLE WINDOWS There are many good reasons to do an aftermarket tint to a vehicle’s

What are the pros and cons of different LED headlight bulbs in cars?

Pros of LED Lights for Cars There are three main types of car headlights. These are the Halogens, HID or high-intensity discharge lights and the LED lights. But how do they compare? Halogen headlights are less efficient compared to LEDs in that the majority of the charge in lost in form of heat instead of being converted to light. They are also not very durable and need to be replaced often. LEDS have a much longer lifespan. Approximately 15,000 hours compared to the 1,000hours of the halogen bulbs. While they may be more expensive, their durability more than makes up for the cost. HIDs are the brightest of the three types of car headlights. However, these come with their own set of challenges. They can blind oncoming motorists and their brightness also creates a shadow effect which makes it hard to see other objects when driving. With LEDs, you do not have to worry about too much brightness causing temporary blindness to other motorists. They offer a decent illumination that
